Design and Build: GIA Bathroom & Kitchen Renovations

Location: Malvern East

Duration: 12 Weeks

Scope: Kitchen, Fireplace, Joinery,Study, Timber Flooring, Windows & Doors.

Brief: The Edwardian weatherboard home consisted of a split-level extension to the existing home. GIA were engaged to introduce a high-end finish to the existing extension, whilst renovating and restoring the traditional characteristics to the front of the home. The kitchen formed the major part of the renovation. The owner wanted an impressive space both functionally and aesthetically. The existing kitchen was zoned improperly and had a small walk in pantry to the side of the kitchen. The new design required wall demolition to open the “scullery space” and allow it to flow from the kitchen. Functional utilities were positioned to the rear wall consisting of a double sink, silent rangehood & large induction hotplate whilst the ovens are concealed behind doors to form a sleek furniture aesthetic. The scullery flows on from the galley and encompasses open storage for the pantry items, large refrigerator, and bench top preparation zone. The central island creates an abundance of drawer storage whilst making for an amazing statement displaying the feature “Grey Tundra” marble which flows on to the splash back material. The joinery remains neutral in a soft grey two pack finish, accompanied by a feature black timber grain to the tall joinery and floating shelving. The fireplace and television design creates a cohesive design and pairs beautifully with the new timber oak floors and kitchen, instigating a stunning open plan room featuring paired back materials and harmony of colour.
